After my mum passed away in March 2022, I decided to reupholster a Victorian tub chair she had given me many years before.  She had taught me to sew – all I needed was to learn to upholster!  

I soon realised there was no way I could teach myself so began looking around and came across the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers (AMUSF).  AMUSF upholds the gold standard for modern and traditional upholstery, established over 70 years ago to ensure this beautiful craft is passed down through future generations.

I signed up to the stage 1 at Ashbourne and began what was to be a life-changing journey. I was completely  hooked. I loved the people, the place and learning to upholster felt like therapy! 

I completed my stage 2 in July  2024.   We were  well rewarded for our hard work with distinctions all round thanks to our amazing tutor and the friendships we had made.

I finished supply teaching and in summer 2024, our brick-built garage was converted back into the original 1920s workshop. It’s a wonderful space and it has been wonderful welcoming you there.  Pop in anytime.  You are warmly invited.
